The short answer
Genspark is a real, well-funded AI workspace that turns a prompt into a usable first-draft deck, document or research page, sold on credits: Plus is $24.99 a month for 10,000. Pick it for busywork you will check yourself, like decks, docs and simple booking calls, and pick ChatGPT Plus at $20 if you mostly want deep research in an app you already use. Neither tells you whether anyone will pay for your idea, so check that before you buy credits for a deck about it.
Key takeaways
- Pick Genspark for decks, docs and simple booking calls. Pick ChatGPT Plus at $20 if research is most of your use. Check every figure either one gives you: a February 2026 test of Genspark’s Deep Research found invented revenue.
- A credit on monthly Plus costs about $2.50 per 1,000. At that rate, a 10-slide Standard deck from Genspark’s own test costs about $0.61, a phone call about $1.25 before summary credits, and the 10-second video one Plus user reported (9,089 credits) about $22.71.
- New subscribers after September 18, 2026 lose “unlimited” chat. Separately, they get a weekly Free Quota for Standard-mode agent tasks; it does not cover chat, which has its own limit and then uses credits. Earlier Plus and Pro members keep the old chat and image benefit through December 31, 2026 if they never let the plan lapse.
- The refund window is short. Outside the EU, UK, Turkey and Korea it is 72 hours from the charge, only one approved refund per customer, and Genspark may decline and offer credits instead if half or more of the plan was used. The Reddit complaints are about credits, the 5-hour chat cap and refunds, not fraud.
- A polished deck does not test the idea inside it. Genspark builds what you describe, so whether anyone wants the idea is still yours to check before you pay for slides.
Heads up: if you’re a Genspark Plus subscriber, be aware that one user’s 10sec video used about 90% of their monthly credits. (The plan gives 10K credits for $24.99/mo and the 10sec video burned 9,089 credits.) In comparison, the 10 slide deck (the one Genspark’s staff made to test it out, so forgive the bias) only used 244 credits. Heads up #2: according to their help center your usage log may lag by a few hours.
Genspark is great for offloading grunt work, but don’t rely on it for judgement about whether an idea is worth building. It’s a good way to get a first draft that you can tweak, according to both a consultant and a founder. (Also note: in one dated test of its research, it made up some figures, so be sure to check any numbers it provides.)
I’m biased, I run Preuve AI, which validates startup ideas. I built this Genspark review by scouring their help pages, watching how their staff answer questions on Reddit, reading what other users posted, reading press and other third party tests which I’ve linked below.

What is Genspark, and who is behind it?
Genspark is an AI workspace offering from MainFunc Inc. that gives you access to multiple AI agents, including slides, sheets, docs, research, and phone calls, in a single subscription, billed in credits. The cheapest paid plan starts at $24.99/month ($19.99 billed yearly) for 10k credits (Oct. 2026). According to their help center, Genspark offers a Super Agent, an AI Slides generator, an AI spreadsheet, an AI Doc generator, a Deep Research tool, a service that can make phone calls to businesses for you, an email and calendar app called GenMail, a coding assistant called Genspark Code, and a desktop assistant called Claw. Their plans page shows that most of these are accessible in a single subscription, and their sales page calls Genspark “the AI Costco.”
Operator: MainFunc Inc. (source: Genspark privacy policy) Total raise: $645M+ (Axios Pro); these are company-reported numbers, not audited. “ARR” = yearly recurring revenue.

Probably not going to disappear on you anytime soon, given the raise. But will you want to keep paying them every month? And will the thing work? That’s the question.
How much does Genspark cost per month?
Genspark Plus and Pro plans cost USD $24.99 and $249.99 per month as of Oct 4, 2026, according to its Membership Plans page. You get 10K and 125K credits respectively. Choose yearly billing and you get a discount to $19.99/month for Plus and $199.99/month for Pro.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | None | 100 a day, up to a lifetime limit |
| Plus | $24.99 | $19.99 a month ($239.99 a year) | 10,000 a month, plus a weekly Free Quota |
| Pro | $249.99 | $199.99 a month ($2,399.99 a year) | 125,000 a month, plus a Free Quota 10 times the Plus one |
| Team | $30 per seat | None listed | See Genspark's business pricing |
Source: Genspark Help Center, Membership Plans, and Genspark pricing (updated September 17, 2026), read October 4, 2026. Prices in USD before tax and before any promotion. "Credits" counts the monthly allocation; the Free Quota is a separate weekly balance with no published credit figure.
Important: According to Genspark’s Credits Guide, monthly credits reset each billing period and do not roll over. For yearly plans, it says you still get 10K credits/month for Plus. Only additional credits you purchase are the exception: they "are valid for 3 months and carry across cycles."
What does one Genspark task cost in dollars?
Assuming you use all of your monthly credits, the cost per 1K credits on the monthly Plus plan is $2.50, $2 on the yearly Plus plan, $2 on the monthly Pro plan, and $1.60 on the yearly Pro plan. Below are published costs from Genspark, and below that are two examples reported by users, all expressed as if you're on the monthly Plus plan.
| Task | Credits | Share of a Plus month | About | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-slide deck, Standard mode | 244 | 2.4% | $0.61 | Genspark staff test, early October 2026 |
| 8-slide deck, Ultra mode | 766 | 7.7% | $1.91 | Same staff test |
| One Call For Me phone call | 500, plus a few for the summary | 5%+ | $1.25 or a bit more | Genspark Help Center, Call For Me |
| One 10-second video | 9,089 | 91% | $22.71 | Plus user, r/genspark_ai, about mid-September 2026 |
| One slide deck project | Over 10,000 | The whole month | At least $24.99 | Plus user, r/genspark_ai, about May 2026 |
Source: Henry from Genspark's deck test (early October 2026), Genspark's Call For Me help page (read October 4, 2026), and two r/genspark_ai user threads linked below. Dollars are the Plus monthly price ($24.99) divided by its 10,000 monthly credits, times the task's credits, rounded; the over-10,000 project is a floor, since the report gives no exact count. They assume no Free Quota was used. Reddit dates are approximate.
The two user-reported examples are problematic. Regarding the video example, the user said they were using Seedance 2.5 and 1K resolution and cancelled. Henry replied, "We are finding new ways to consume less credits for hefty tasks." As for the deck that consumed 10K credits, a Genspark employee reached out to the user via DM and the user later thanked them for "the swift reply and 10k credit."
To be fair to Genspark, its slide costs have come down over time. A test from about May 2026 by Alli from Genspark shows a cost of ~65 credits/slide (around a half-price promotion). Henry's post from October shows a cost of ~24 credits/slide. They use different prompts and modes though. Also, according to Genspark’s press release from Sep 18, an August update cut Standard-mode slides to about a fifth of their earlier cost.

What changed in Genspark's plans on September 18, 2026?
The “unlimited” chat & image generation for new subscribers was scrapped and Free Quota was introduced on Sep 18, 2026. This change is announced in a press release on the same day in Japan. The press release says the core models stay free (no credit used) up to a certain amount, while the flagship models are not free (credit required).
The Free Quota applies to Standard mode of the following features: Super Agent, AI Slides, AI Sheets, AI Docs, Deep Research, and a few more. According to Henry’s Reddit post announcing Free Quota, it "refills every 7 days and doesn't roll over week by week." These are not part of it: Design, Code, GenMail, Meeting, Translate, Call For Me, Workflows, and Ultra mode. The Pro plan has 10x the weekly Free Quota compared to Plus. No specific number of credits is mentioned.
If you subscribed before Sep 18 and don’t lapse your Plus/Pro plan, your “unlimited” chat & image generation will be honored till Dec 31, 2026. Starting Jan 1, 2027, you will be subject to whatever plan terms apply then. The Credits Guide says subscribers "on or before September 18, 2026" keep it, but the Membership Plans page says "before September 18, 2026." If you happen to subscribe on the same day (Sep 18), you may need to talk to the support and confirm in writing.
One commenter under the announcement said Free Quota covered "an 18 page slide deck that would have used half a months credits before this.". Unfortunately Genspark hasn’t published how much it is (the number of credits they give you weekly), so it’s impossible to know how big the saving is. If you are a heavy chat user and signed up after Sep 18, it has decreased.
Is Genspark a scam? What paying users complain about
Is Genspark a scam? No. They’re a funded company with a working product. The complaints are mostly about billing and limits and sometimes slow support.
Here’s how paying users’ complaints break down:
How quickly they consume credits
On the "confusing pricing" thread (about mid-September 2026), the poster said every button meets them with an offer, and Henry replied: "We have promotions that pop and can be confusing which plan or credit pack you are purchasing or consuming." On another thread (about August 2026) he wrote: "The feedback around credit consumption are valid and one we see a lot."
“Unlimited” chat but with a 5-hour cap
One user on r/genspark_ai who bought a yearly plan (about March 2026) said: "About a month in, I suddenly get hit with: 'AI Chat 5-hour limit reached.'" Back on Genspark’s AI Chat page, it says: "a session limit over a fixed 5-hour window" And below: "buying credits doesn't lift it." In a thread from about early September 2026 on the same subreddit, Henry called chat "free and unlimited" with "a session based rate limit within our fair use policy."
Trying to downgrade but still being renewed at the higher rate
One user who had been using Genspark for 7 months (post from about April 2026) said they were being charged "$400 for a subscription renewal that I explicitly put as a downgrade." According to Genspark’s help center, when you downgrade, it’ll take effect on your next renewal date, and any remaining credits won’t carry over. So you need to go into the billing section and check how much it is going to be before your renewal date.
Trying to get a refund but not succeeding
One user on r/genspark_ai (about mid-2026) said: "I requested a refund within the eligible time window, provided all the information they asked for," and they were still waiting.
Genspark does have a strict refund policy, so you need to be careful before purchasing a plan. On its Membership Plans page (read on 4th October 2026), it says:
- For customers in the European Union, United Kingdom, Korea and Turkey, you may request a refund within 14 days, 14 days, 7 days and 14 days, respectively, after the charge date for Plus, Pro or Cloud Computer plans. For customers in all other countries/regions, you may request a refund within 72 hours after the charge date for Plus, Pro or Cloud Computer plans. The refund policy applies to both monthly and yearly plans.
- For each subsequent charge when your plan renews, a new refund window will begin. For purchases made through the App Store or Google Play Store, refunds must be processed directly through the respective store.
- "A refund is available if you have used less than 50% of the subscription or quota." Beyond that, Genspark "may decline the refund and offer credits instead."
- One more rule: "We can process only one refund per customer."
On 4th October 2026, Genspark has a 3.8 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot from 455 reviews. 44% of the reviews were 5-star and 27% were 1-star. Trustpilot says Genspark is a company that invites its customers to leave reviews. In the past week, here are two reviews:
"Wrost experience ever - When ever i tried to generate a video i saw a timeout error message or limit reached." (Trustpilot review, October 3, 2026)
"I am also using a lot the super agent to carry in depth study on specific topic, building reports that I can use to brief my team." (Trustpilot review, October 2, 2026)
Genspark’s staff do reply to people publicly by name on the same subreddit. One of the people who commented on the deck test Henry put out said they joined Genspark in August "because I was very impressed with how the Genspark team communicates with users." One thing you can do is to note down how many credits you have on the page where you can see how you use your credits before doing a big task, because according to the help center, the log of how you’ve used your credits "can take a few hours to catch up."
Skip weeks of manual research
Get complete market research, sourced proof, competitor map, and pricing data for your idea instantly.
Is Genspark's research accurate enough to trust?
Genspark’s research is a good starting point, but you need to check their figures. One recent Trustpilot reviewer says its reports are good enough to brief a team. And here’s a review from TIMEWELL, an AI consulting firm from Japan, testing the Deep Research feature when it was still in beta (Feb 7, 2026): They tried it out on actual companies and found that it can hallucinate quite a bit. For example, it made up financial data (a specific revenue number for a quarter and operating margin of 1.5%, with no basis), mixed in a different company’s patents, and even failed to run (fetch error) in one of the cases.
Note that they tried it out before the rebuild of the Super Agent (which happened in July 2026, according to the press release from September), so the current version could be better. But in a thread from about September 2025, a staff member replied that there are indeed some hallucination issues due to the underlying models they use.
And based on my skimming of Reddit posts from this year (2026), users are still finding issues with it.
- For example, here’s a comment from about August 2026 by a new subscriber on r/genspark_ai about researching an old recipe, where it made up a lot of the stories and even added stuff that the user hadn’t mentioned.
- And here’s a post from about May 2026 by a freelance consultant on r/AIToolsAndTips about it making up a statistic while summarising research, which the user realised because they had actually read the PDF themselves.
On the other hand, Henry from Genspark says market research is genuinely good, but like any tool the quality depends on how structured your input is. I don’t see anyone out there who has tested how accurate Genspark is nowadays. But anyway, check any market numbers it gives you. Here I have a good guide on market research for first-time founders, including how to check a market figure.

How good are Genspark AI Slides, Sheets and Call For Me?
AI Slides
There are more positive reports for Slides, and the consultant in the above thread used it for a few months. He said it produced "something I could open in PowerPoint, fix two slides, and send." The Slides help page on Genspark says Standard mode, which runs on Genspark’s own Gen-1 model, uses half the credits of Ultra, and you can export to PDF, PPTX and Google Slides.
The downside is layout and the PowerPoint export. Henry said his own Standard deck "seems squished or could have better spacing between text blocks." A Pro user (about Sep 2025) wrote that "export to PPT almost never work correctly at all." In 2026, Lindy’s three-week review (updated 24 Sep 2026) found that "two slide exports lost formatting." (Bear in mind Lindy sells a competing AI agent). There are loads of AI pitch deck generators now. See my post on the best ones.
AI Sheets
There are less reports for Sheets and they’re less positive. The same consultant said the formulas in 2 cells "referenced the wrong column." Another user in a thread from about Sep 2025 said the sheets agent was "completely botching the spreadsheet we were working on." So check the formulas.
Call For Me
Call For Me lets you phone businesses and gives you a transcript and summary of the call. The help page for Call For Me says each call costs a flat 500 credits for the voice model, plus a few more for the summary, and calls go out on Genspark’s phone lines. You can verify up to 3 phone numbers if you have one of the paid plans. There aren’t many reports on it but they’re positive. The consultant above tried it on "a low-stakes thing (asking a venue about parking) and it worked." Another user (about Apr 2026) in r/AI_Agents said it had been convenient for restaurant bookings and basic appointment calls. Lindy saw one attempt spend 500 credits before the script felt ready. It’s good for bookings, I wouldn’t use it for negotiating.
Is Genspark better than ChatGPT or Manus?
If you ask one consultant, he says Genspark is good for when you want a deliverable and Manus is good for when you want to explore an open-ended question and do some research. But, if you’re on ChatGPT Plus, you can get both for less money. Now that OpenAI retired the agent in ChatGPT, if you go to its help page, it tells you that for longer multi-step tasks and finished deliverables, you should use ChatGPT Work. (Also, just a heads up if you were unaware, but Manus is independent again now that the deal with Meta has unwound. Source: Reuters, Aug 11, 2026.)
| Genspark | Manus | ChatGPT | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry plan compared | Plus, $24.99/month ($19.99 billed yearly) | $20/month | Plus, $20/month (a cheaper Go tier exists) |
| Top personal plan | Pro, $249.99/month | $200/month | Pro 100, 200 or 500, $100 to $500/month |
| What the entry plan buys | 10,000 credits/month plus a weekly Free Quota | 4,000 credits/month plus 300 refresh credits a day | Plan usage limits; OpenAI publishes no task count |
| Free plan | 100 credits a day, up to a lifetime limit | 300 credits a day, lighter model only | Limited deep research and limited ChatGPT Work on desktop |
| A published task cost | 500 credits per phone call plus a few for the summary; 244 for a 10-slide deck (staff test) | 200 credits for a 15-minute chart task (Manus example) | None published |
| Decks and documents | Slides, Sheets, Docs; export to PDF, PPTX, Google Slides | Slides and websites on paid plans | ChatGPT Work makes documents, spreadsheets and presentations; PowerPoint is not in the Work desktop flow at launch |
Source: Genspark Help Center (read October 4, 2026); Manus Help Center, manus.im/pricing and Manus's credits page (read October 4, 2026); OpenAI Help Center pages on Plus and Pro tiers, ChatGPT agent and ChatGPT Work, and chatgpt.com/pricing for the free plan (read October 4, 2026). Prices in USD per month before tax. Credits are not comparable across vendors: each one prices its own unit.
In fact the only firsthand source I’d cite for Genspark vs. Manus, which doesn’t include ChatGPT, is a post by a consultant, who canceled Manus after two months and put it this way:
"If you spend most of your time making stuff for other people and the output is a deliverable, Genspark probably wins." (r/AIToolsAndTips, about May 2026)
He found Manus pretty good at messy research, where it spits out a bunch of files. For more straightforward deliverables, Genspark works well. Btw, you can do deep research in ChatGPT with the $20 plan and generate documents, spreadsheets, presentations in ChatGPT Work.
Why validate your business idea before spending Genspark credits?
Here’s one from a founder on the r/SideProject subreddit (about August 2026). He gives Genspark his LinkedIn and gets a pretty decent first draft deck with 13 slides. He is promoting it at the end of the post, but if you're curious, go try it out yourself. Another example is from the Genspark staff itself promoting how you can use Guide Mode to make a pitch to investors. Both of them don't answer the question if there are people who would buy the idea.
While the two examples from above are both from Genspark itself or promotional, neither shows that Genspark can help you decide if you should build an idea or not. Once you use up your Free Quota, redoing a deck like Genspark's tested 10-slide Standard one costs about $0.61.
Only 17.5% of the startup ideas scanned on Preuve get a score of 70 and above, according to the latest benchmark study by Preuve. The benchmark is Preuve’s 3rd edition, published in July 2026 and is based on 6,000+ startup idea analyses. In 36.9% of the analyses that carry a primary risk label, the biggest risk was that the startup idea was still in a too early stage and too vague to score it.

Before you commit to Genspark I would highly recommend trying out Preuve’s Reality Check to validate your idea. For free you can scan 60+ live data sources to identify the demand, competition, and size of your market in less than a minute. Then, talk to 10 to 15 buyers to see if your idea is something they would purchase. For the method, see how to validate a business idea and the idea validation guide. Once you’ve validated your idea it may be worth the $24.99/month for Genspark.

Genspark has a free plan with 100 credits a day, but only up to a lifetime limit: once a free account uses its lifetime allowance, the daily refill stops. Paid plans start at $24.99 a month for Plus (10,000 credits a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly) and $249.99 a month for Pro (125,000 credits), per Genspark’s help center on October 4, 2026. A paid plan replaces the free daily credits, you do not get both.
How do I cancel Genspark and get a refund?
Cancel from the billing section of your account, or in the App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there. Your plan runs to the end of the period, then reverts to Free, and unused credits are not refunded. For a refund, Genspark’s help center (read October 4, 2026) gives 14 days in the EU, UK and Turkey, 7 days in Korea and 72 hours everywhere else, measured from the charge. It allows only one approved refund per customer, and may decline and offer credits if you used 50% or more of the plan. Each renewal charge starts its own window, so ask the day it hits.
Is Genspark a Chinese company?
Genspark is run by MainFunc Inc., which its privacy policy (updated July 24, 2026) names together with Genspark Inc. Forbes described it as based in Palo Alto, California, when it raised $275 million in November 2025, and it runs a Japanese arm, Genspark K.K. The privacy policy says your data is stored on Microsoft Azure and that your text goes to model providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI and ElevenLabs.
Which Genspark is this: the AI Browser, the AI workspace, or GenSpark the training company?
Three things get mixed up. The Genspark AI workspace at genspark.ai is the subscription this review covers (Super Agent, AI Slides, AI Sheets, AI Docs, Call For Me and more). Genspark AI Browser is a separate download from the same company, sold as "an AI-native browser with Genspark AI built into every page" with free on-device AI and an Autopilot mode. GenSpark the IT training and staffing firm, discussed in Reddit threads from around 2022 (formerly Pyramid Academy, per those commenters), is a different company, and its "is it a scam" threads are about training contracts, not the AI product.
Is Genspark good for a startup pitch deck?
For a first draft, yes. A founder on r/SideProject (about August 2026) called the result "a pretty usable 13-slide, first draft deck" built from his LinkedIn profile, and a consultant on r/AIToolsAndTips could "fix two slides, and send." Expect layout and PowerPoint export fixes, and treat every market figure on the slides as unverified until you open its source. A deck also does not tell you whether the idea has buyers, so check demand first.
Is Genspark better than ChatGPT?
No independent test compares Genspark, Manus and ChatGPT side by side. On price, Genspark Plus is $24.99 a month for 10,000 credits and ChatGPT Plus is $20 (Genspark and OpenAI help pages, read October 4, 2026). Genspark puts slides, sheets and phone calls in one credit-priced workspace. ChatGPT Work also makes documents, spreadsheets and presentations, but OpenAI publishes no task counts. If research inside an app you already use is most of your need, ChatGPT is the simpler pick. Neither tells you whether your idea has buyers.
